Lawrence, Indiana is located roughly 5 miles from downtown Indianapolis, in the northeast corner of Marion
County. The city was home to 38,915 residents as of the 2000 census and has grown by 17% to 45,913 in just a
few years. For businesses and commercial purposes, it is also located less than three hours from Chicago,
Cincinnati, Columbus and Louisville and only 20 minutes from the Indianapolis International Airport.
Lawrence is home to many parks and festivals including Oaklandon Park, Louis Jenn Park, Sterrett Center and
Lawrence Community Park. In addition, Lawrence is home to the former Fort Benjamin Harrison which at one
point served as a US Army base and eventually an air force base. The Fort was closed in 1996 and is now home
to many residential communities as well as the Fort Harrison State Park.
Academics
The ninth largest school district in the state, the MSD of Lawrence Township serves just under 16,000 students.
