The City of Carmel, Indiana is one of the fastest growing cities in Indiana. It is known for being a safe,
family-oriented city with a genuine sense of community. Located just north of Indianapolis in Hamilton County,
Carmel is a dynamic edge city with award-winning schools, thriving businesses and family-oriented neighborhoods.
The city is committed to preserving its vitality through controlled expansion and prudent planning.
Originally named Bethlehem, Carmel experienced an 80% population growth in just 7 years (between 2000 and
2007). In addition, to being home to many popular recreational facilities, including the Monon Center, Inlow
Park and Meadowlark Park, Carmel is also home to many tourist attractions and unique places including the
Flowing Well Park and Village of West Clay. The city even holds it's own farmers market every Saturday at City
Hall.
Carmel also hosts Carmelfest, an annual event held around the 4th of July that includes music, dancing, food,
crafts and so much more. In addition, Carmel holds an International Arts Festival showcasing works of art from
all over Indianapolis.
